Consent orders
If you’ve reached an agreement with your partner about property or parenting matters, we generally recommend you formalise your agreement by way of Family Court Consent Orders. The process is generally quick and straightforward.

Real estate transfers
It’s common for consent orders to include a transfer of real estate from one party to another, often in exchange for a cash payment.

Divorce
Although getting divorced is usually quite simple, many people find it more convenient to have a lawyer do the work.

There's no point in dismantling your life if there is a reasonable prospect of reconciliation. We can refer you to a range of marriage guidance and counselling services.
Separation is a major crisis in anyone's life. It may take some time to come to terms with the separation and adjust to your new circumstances. Separation can also affect your children and your friends and relatives.
You may find counselling useful. Counselling involves talking with an independent, experienced person about personal and family problems. People who face their marriage problems early on often find that counselling can either help them deal with their problems or help them cope better with separation.
The Family Court Counselling Service is confidential and available at any stage: before or after separation. To make an appointment with a counsellor telephone 9224 8248.
