For many years Birman & Ride sponsored the annual John Birman Memorial Prize for the best works by graduating students of the Western Australian School of Visual Arts within the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts at Edith Cowan University. The awards honour John Birman, pioneering arts administrator and adult educationist.
The awards, made at the school's final year graduate exhibition, consisted of prizes for the best painting and the best work in any media.
The winning entries were acquired by the firm and hang in our city offices.
