If you've got a legal problem, it makes sense to find out where you stand.
Legal problems can be simpler or more difficult than you imagine. You may or may not need legal representation. The solution may be cheap or expensive. But it always makes sense to know where you stand.Unless you are buying a fixed price service, we generally recommend that you arrange an initial consultation before engaging us to act for you on an ongoing basis.
An initial consultation costs $99 and lasts for up to 45 minutes. If necessary, we offer consultations after hours, at your premises (additional travelling charges apply) or by telephone. What you need to bring to the consultation
- Photographic identity document (eg passport or drivers’ licence)
- Details of other parties (ie opponents)
- Photocopies of all relevant documents (that you can leave with us) including print-outs of emails etc organised in chronological order – earliest date first. See doing business with your lawyer.
Before the consultation
We will ask you to complete a capture sheet with your personal and business contact details and similar details for other parties involved in the matter. We need this information to maintain the integrity of our Registry records, protect you and the public generally against the possibility of fraud and to ensure that we do not have a conflict of interest that would preclude us from acting for you.
You could save time at the consultation by downloading and emailing the completed capture sheet to us in advance.
At the consultation
You'll meet a member of our professional team experienced in the relevant area of law. He or she will:- identify the scope of your problem
- solve the problem on the spot if possible
- offer self-help solutions where practical
- tell you what your options are for the on-going management of the problem and the costs involved
- if appropriate, offer you a written quote for any further services.
