Good writing reflects clear thinking
Before we can write a word we must:
- get the facts straight; and
- formulate clear objectives.
Plain English
There’s no point us writing a document you can’t understand. Business documents must convey ideas in writing – quickly, clearly and persuasively.
Brevity
We once had a business client who asked us “I just want a one-pager that covers everything” on the assumption the “one-pager” wouldbe inexpensive. His request brought to mind the story of the man who apologised for writing a long letter, explaining that he just didn’t have time to write a short one. The same is true of legal documents: it requires more time and effort (and therefore money) to write an effective, short document than a long one. It’s quality over quantity every time.
We aim to produce documents that are as concise and accurate as possible.
Make it attractive to read
We take a great deal of pride in presenting you with documents that look beautiful.
Why have a written agreement?
“The horror of that moment” said the King, I shall never forget.” “Ah, but you will,” said the Queen, “if you don’t make a memorandum of it.” Lewis Carroll, Alice in WonderlandIt’s an unfortunate fact, but our memories are not perfect. Even if you think you have perfect recall, it’s unlikely those you’re doing business with will have. Never trust your memory. Write down everything you want to remember.
If you’re in business, even with a member of your own family, it always makes sense to have the terms of the agreement documented. With an accurately drafted agreement you will protect your rights and avoid potentially costly disagreements down the track.
