  • Full-time position: $45k – $65k pa, plus super, based on experience

  • Innovative NewLaw firm specialising in all aspects of succession law

Background

Birman & Ride is a modern Australian law firm built on NewLaw ideals. We’re a tight-knit, multi-disciplinary team of lawyers, legal executives, accountants and software developers.

Our brands deliver practical, customer-focussed solutions for everyday needs and problems faced by people and businesses. We offer most of our services at fixed prices. We use sophisticated technology and innovative service delivery to overcome traditional barriers to access.

We don’t do everything; instead we target markets where we can make a difference and deliver services we enjoy (which makes it easier to do it well).

Perth Wills Centre and Perth Probate Centre are our Wills and Probate brands.

Wills, probate and related services have always been core business of our firm. We have a strong base of knowledge and experience from assisting thousands of clients in these fields. We have a high volume of client files and well-established processes using our legal practice management system ContactsLaw.

Who we’re looking for

We seek a talented graduate to join our busy Wills and Probate team and work with us to further develop and expand the services we offer. Key responsibilities include:

  • assisting our lawyers with the management of matters relating to Wills, Probate and related services;
  • you will manage client relationships from the outset. We would expect you to develop skills to work fairly autonomously (in the team environment) within the medium term;
  • contributing to business development; and
  • cross-selling the firm’s services.

This position offers you the opportunity to acquire practical professional skills and potential for leadership and management in the future. For operational reasons, we may require you to undertake work in other areas from time to time.

Selection criteria

The successful applicant will:

  1. have a bachelor degree from an Australian university, preferably in Arts, Economics, Commerce, Law or Business;
  2. demonstrate a high level of maturity, judgment and common sense;
  3. share values with our modern law firm;
  4. be keen to embrace technology to enhance the delivery of legal services;
  5. be a leader and a team player.

Experience working in a service-industry environment will be highly regarded, but is not essential. No previous experience in Wills or probate is required.

What we offer

We will negotiate an attractive remuneration package. The position is open to full-time applicants.  We are open to flexible working arrangements in appropriate circumstances. This position is not suited to those whose career goal is that of an admitted legal practitioner. You will be employed on a permanent basis subject to a probation period. The many good aspects of joining our team include:

  • a collegiate team environment in which a sense of humour is essential and every member is encouraged to grow professionally and personally and reach their full potential;
  • an innovative law firm committed to the modernisation of the legal profession and making a difference in the community;
  • establishing positive and long-lasting relationships with clients and others in the industry.
