Michael Hodgkins

LLB, BCom, AMusA
Legal Practitioner Director
Departments: Family law, Probate and deceased estate administration, Property and commercial law, Real estate settlements, Wills and estate planning

Michael, a seasoned lawyer in Western Australia since 1997, specialises in succession and property law. Having served as a general legal practitioner for over 15 years, Michael represented clients in various matters, both in and out of court and actively demonstrates a strong foundation of knowledge.

Drawing on this extensive experience, he spearheaded the firm’s transition to NewLaw ideals in 2011 and under Michael’s leadership, the firm successfully revamped its services, introducing brands like Flat Rate Settlements, Perth Probate Centre, Perth Wills Centre, and Get Paid Debt Collection. These brands have disrupted the legal services market in Western Australia, offering practical fixed-price solutions for everyday needs.

A Murdoch University graduate in Law and Commerce, Michael joined the firm as an articled clerk in 1996 and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 1997 and has since been an active member of the Law Society of Western Australia.

Beyond his legal career, Michael is deeply passionate and involved in community groups, serving as the chairperson of a local Independent Public-School board, a trustee of the charitable fund for Fremantle Chamber Orchestra Pty Ltd, and the orchestra’s principal clarinet.

Additionally, he contributes as the web editor and clarinettist with the Fremantle Symphony Orchestra and serves as an age-group coordinator at Subiaco AFC Soccer Club.

As someone who also loves travelling, Blue Cow Ski Slope and Times Square being two of the most notable, you may find Michael playing the clarinet or violin at one of these locations once he’s finally decided to call it quits as a lawyer so keep a look out on our socials in about 20 years time!
